Lazy Air Fryer Chicken
My go to roast chicken recipe.
Just salt, pepper, and a spatchcocked whole bird. Air-fried for 30 minutes until golden, crispy, and shockingly juicy. No oil, no marinade, no mess. It’s the kind of dinner that feels like a shortcut but still tastes like you really tried
Why I Love It:
✔️ 2 ingredients, 30 minutes
✔️ Crispy skin, juicy meat
✔️ No oil, no basting
✔️ Toddler and lunchbox friendly
Ingredients:
- 1 whole chicken (900g), spatchcocked
- Salt
- Black pepper
Instructions:
1. Bring chicken to room temp
2. Spatchcock the chicken (cut out the backbone and flatten it). This is the secret to make the chicken cook quicker (aka juicer) and have more crispy skin
3. Generously season both sides with salt and black pepper (white pepper for toddlers)
4. Pat dry skin, rub with oil and place the chicken skin-side up in the air fryer basket
5. Air fry at 200°C for 30–35 minutes, or until golden and cooked through. Increase cook time depending on the size of the bird
6. Let rest 5 minutes before carving
👶🏻 Baby friendly tip:
Use white pepper instead of black. Serve shredded chicken with soft vegetables or rice. For younger toddlers, remove skin and offer smaller bites of the juicy breast or thigh meat

Non-toxic swap
Glass Air Fryer
I chose a glass air fryer to avoid non-stick coatings. It’s a cleaner, low-tox alternative that lets you actually see your food as it cooks. Perfect for quick dinners, toddler meals, or when I need to walk away and let something crisp quietly on its own
